Professional Mentoring
The Sound Accord Mentorship Program provides a doorway of opportunity to inspire and positively influence your career development. It provides a structured, dynamic learning relationship between an experienced professional teacher/healer and a developing healer who desires professional growth, support as they cultivate a private practice or embark on more teaching and presenting, or coaching regarding specific work with particular clients or cases to develop mastery as a healing professional.
The mentorship established is unique to your needs, personality, learning styles, expectations and experiences. We will focus on mutually determined expectations and goals through phone sessions, private appointments and observation of your work with others or teaching, according to your goals, needs and personal situation.
The Mentoring Process May Include:
Mentor Relationship
Your Mentor will offer knowledge, insight, perspective, experience, support and wisdom. The Mentee, or Protégé, is someone who is seeking guidance in developing specific competencies, self-awareness, skills and confidence in order to develop mastery; someone who through specific one-on-one mentoring support is willing…

New Horizons for Sound Accord
From Hope Horton
Gabrielle and I have always viewed Sound Accord as a national (and international) program. In the fall of 2008, I will be relocating to Chapel Hill, NC, for the following academic year. My husband, Paul, has a wonderful opportunity to teach at the University of North Carolina. We are keeping our home in Madison, though the appointment may be extended.
I will continue to participate fully in the growth and development of Sound Accord, returning to Wisconsin to teach and offer healing sessions periodically. I also hope to find opportunities to bring Sound Accord to the Southeast. If you know anyone in the environs of North Carolina who might be interested in participating in and/or promoting our work, please email Hope at hopematrix@chorus.net. Thank you!
Practitioner Stories From Kathy Kyar in Iowa
I have a friend with whom I have used the voice healing work many times since I attended SS#5. I added the work to the massage that I do and was using a bell, rattles and the drum that I made last summer with more recently a tibetan bowl. (I have also used the voice work with other clients.)
The friend loves this work. She tells me it takes her deeper and farther more quickly and she feels even more nurtured with the sound additions.
I saw the friend for a session just after SS#2 and I used the forks in an abbreviated session prior to massage. The friend said that she had been feeling bombarded by sound in the world and that she believed the sound of the forks was like coming home and the vibration took the sound to the deep places that wanted to be healed. I have since used the forks with this friend again and we are looking for a time when we both have time for her to experience a complete session.
This is a friend that has a very busy therapy practice and she is also a massage therapist and a long time Reiki teacher/practitioner. She has experienced and practiced many healing modalities and I trust her judgement completely.
I have used the forks in an introductory way with other massage clients and the common theme seems to be that using the forks before the massage brings the calming effect very quickly and the sessions go deeper more quickly. The best part is that everyone so far loves the experience.
I have completed two complete sessions with the tuning fork protocol we practiced in class.
The first client's intent was relief of pain. I used the forks and my voice as I was so moved. The experience for me was one of flow in the interface place. I love this work! After the session, the client said that he felt his pain was relieved and that he felt calmer and smoother.
The second client said she wanted to move forward in the forgiveness work she has been doing. In this session I used the tuning forks, singing bowl, drum and my voice. The tuning forks were the primary tool. The client told me after the session that she felt things gathering in her body as I worked with the forks and that then when I used the drum ( it asked for quiet and slow sounds) it seemed that the "rocks' that had gathered were broken apart and were able to move out of her body. The client also said that she felt the work had a deep effect on her body and soul and that she feels more confident of her ability to truly move forward on her forgiveness and healing path
I am looking for places in my schedule to continue to offer practice sessions. I am excited about the work and I am sure there is a place for this work in my part of the world.

“Me and My Tibetan Bowl”
From Judy Skog, Madison, WI
I pray with my bowl. So I invoke Shamael and strike the bowl three times (that grounds me). Then I say gratitudes and strike the bowl after each one. Then I ask for each of my family members (individually) for support for whatever they need today (striking the bowl after each). Sometimes there’s a more specific request (like safe travels).
Then I branch out to broader concerns – bringing our troops home from Iraq (always next), new people to leave their cars at home and take the bus today, help getting off my butt to resume work on my niece’s quilt, etc. Actually, I ask for support for specific activities for me after my gratitudes and before my family.
At the end, I visualize cutting the ties from each of my chakras and send them out to the universe with love, strike the bowl three times, and say three OMs. If I can’t think of something to say, I strike the bowl until something comes. I let the bowl carry my intention outward. This can take as little as five minutes or as long as fifteen. Sometimes I just pray for generic support for my family and healing for the air, the water, the soil, the animals/fish/birds/plants and the earth. The important thing is to let go of the prayer. It can’t actualize if you don’t let go of it and send it out. And it’s important to change things up sometimes and not say the same things each time. I think that’s a form of hanging on.
I also can use the Chakra Chants CD (10 minutes, pick a chakra to tone with to help me stay grounded. I have to tell myself “You can make room for 20 minutes for yourself today.”
The importance to all of us of collecting stories of Sound Accord Sound Healing effectiveness by documenting your sessions cannot be overemphasized. Please send your paragraphs of discovery to us at gabrisha@sbcglobal.net or hopematrix@chorus.net.
